Hello February!!

Well that’s January 2021 done and dusted! Phew. This is a little recap of life at Valle Laguna over January and some of our plans for 2021.

How did everyone go with their New Year resolutions? Are you still on track or did you lose momentum at the 14-21 day mark. Apparently that’s usually the length of time resolutions last.

Personally I hate New Year resolutions. Probably because I fail at them every year, and I’m left feeling deflated and flat. This year I’m taking a different approach and using a word to focus my mind and attention . My word for 2021 is NOURISH.

to sustain with food or nutriment; supply with what is necessary for life, health, and growth. to cherish, foster, keep alive, strengthen, build up, or promote.

English Dictionary

I’ll be applying this word when I start to feel overwhelmed or frustrated about something. I’ll try to stop and ask myself, will this nourish my mind, my body, my relationships? Is this going to help grow my future?

The other thing that have found brilliant are these 2 books. The 5 Minute Journal and Goal Digger Planner. I started using the planner last year and found it was a wonderful way to focus all of my ideas and dreams into workable plans. I particularly like the habit tracker and the 3 weekly goals each week. It helps enormously with the overwhelming “To Do List” that we all have.

January was such a busy time in the garden and with the animals!

Both Cryptic and Zoe managed to injured themselves so Valle Laguna felt a little bit like a vet hospital. Trying to keep a a kelpie x boarder collie quiet was a challenge and poor Cryptic needs to be stabled for a few weeks. I’m lucky to have the stables, but there is a lot of extra work involved in keeping a horse stabled 24/7.

The garden was a point of joy in January. The recent rain and warm weather sent it into overdrive so my “morning harvest” was just the best! Tomatoes, cucumber, bok choy, snow peas, silverbeet, green & purple beans plus strawberries. Not a bad effort for a newbie gardener!!

So that’s it for January!

Hope everyone is having a good start to February.
